A medical exemption under MCL §257.709(3) is a physician-certified document that legally authorizes you to have aftermarket tint on your front side windows in Michigan.

This is critically important in Michigan because the state completely prohibits any aftermarket tint on front side windows. Unlike most states that set a minimum VLT percentage, Michigan bans all aftermarket film on front windows outright. A medical exemption is the only legal exception. Back and rear windows can already be any darkness without an exemption.

Michigan Tint Law Requirements
